Description

The Heather mead has one of the most intense honey aromas of all the Afon Mêl meads. Back-sweetened with heather honey, which has an intense flavour and aroma, this mead somehow manages to be “more honeyish than honey”. This is a mead to sit with and savour the smell of. It also goes well alongside sweet and creamy desserts.

Meads from the Afon Mêl bee farm and meadery are sweet, complex meads with flavour profiles comparable to sherry or port. The meads are matured in the vats for roughly 2 years, which gives the flavours and aromas plenty of time to blend and develop. This also adds sherry-like notes to the aftertaste, which can linger for a while afterwards. Best enjoyed in small sherry glasses or snifters.
