Description

The Honey mead, in spite of being the most straightforward of the Afon Mel meads, is actually one of the more complex ones. The flavours and aroma from the wildflower honey are wonderfully clear, but they are also mild enough to allow subtler flavours to be noticed, making the mead quite sherry-like with a light acidity. One for the purists to savour.

Meads from the Afon Mêl bee farm and meadery are sweet, complex meads with flavour profiles comparable to sherry or port. The meads are matured in the vats for roughly 2 years, which gives the flavours and aromas plenty of time to blend and develop. This also adds sherry-like notes to the aftertaste, which can linger for a while afterwards. Best enjoyed in small sherry glasses or snifters.
