Description

This limited edition heather honey mead has been matured in a Penderyn Whisky cask that was previously used to mature madeira wine. The sweetness of the heather honey is strongly complimented by the gentle fruitiness of the madeira cask. The flavour leads with heather honey aromas followed by a bold honeysuckle-like sweetness. A full finish brings hints of Madeira noticeable behind an increased whisky-ish warmth.

Meads from the Afon Mêl bee farm and meadery are sweet, complex meads with flavour profiles comparable to sherry or port. The meads are matured in the vats for roughly 2 years, which gives the flavours and aromas plenty of time to blend and develop. This also adds sherry-like notes to the aftertaste, which can linger for a while afterwards. Best enjoyed in small sherry glasses or snifters.
