Description

Part of a new offering of Norse-themed meads from the Afon Mêl bee farm and meadery, the Valkyrie mead is a full-bodied Damson Plum mead. Fruity and smooth, this mead has a sloe-like tang to the finish without being too heavy on the tanniny/dry notes. This makes it well suited for a dessert wine or general sipping drink in a port glass or the like. Like so many other fruit meads, the combination of sweetness and a gentle tartness makes for a good pairing with cheese.

Meads from the Afon Mêl bee farm and meadery are sweet, complex meads with flavour profiles comparable to sherry or port. The meads are matured in the vats for roughly 2 years, which gives the flavours and aromas plenty of time to blend and develop. This also adds sherry-like notes to the aftertaste, which can linger for a while afterwards. Best enjoyed in small sherry glasses or snifters.
