Paradise Garage Brewing in Sheffield is a new and modern meadery, where good mead is enjoyed with good music. Not ones to be bogged down by old norms and dusty traditions, their meads are inventive and sometimes unexpected, and are named as tributes to great music venues of times past.

Roxy is a blackcurrant bochet brewed with kampot peppercorns. Dark and intense, this mead leads with a sharp, fruity punch that is enhanced by fresh peppery notes. Having made its dramatic entry, the mead then settles in the mouth with velvety soft tannins and a gentle port-like finish from the caramelised honey. What sweetness there is takes a back seat to the other flavours, and a small wine glass of Roxy could go really well with a steak or other meaty dishes. Just be prepared for it to steal the show.

This mead is name after the Roxy nightclub in New York City, which was open between 1979 and 2007 and served at different times as a roller-disco and as a multiracial and multicultural hip hop dance club.
